Early wake up again but there is a reason here... get to Death Valley BEFORE it gets HOT!! (It was 100 degrees by 8:30 a.m.)(sigh) Was very impressed with Death Valley. We could have done near 20 Earthcaches but didn't have the time (nor the energy to fight the temps!) One of the most impressvie was at the "How low can you go" Earthcache where you looked at the mountain behind the parking lot and WAAAYYYY up the mountain is this sign saying "SEA LEVEL"... wow! Didn't get too many counties in this area as we had no cell signal for most of the day!! We got out of Death Valley by about 1 and had a long mountain drive with deep valleys and finally ended up at Mammoth Mountain resort. A big ski place in winter but now we were there for web cam pictures. We went back into NV for the night and then headed to spend the night in Oregon. We stopped and went to the virtual about Pre Fontain (the famous runner who died young) near our hotel that night Here are some hightlights: Click on any photo to see an enlarged version.

We, of course, are getting new county caches along the way and Bob sees this one coming up....	It's a traditional but really cool! "Grave of the Unknown Prospector"	So there is not a lot of places for your pet to go in the desert so this got a laugh out of both of us. Big sign and the only good pee spot is a fire hydrant!

Next day we head out and stop at the Earthcache Lake Lahontan which is just one lake but used to be 12 of them together a long time ago!	Then we started getting in pretty country	Here it is late August - 90 degrees even here - and this giant mountain has snow still on it!
