Tues and Wed - Aug 21 & 22

So you can probally tell from the lack of pictures that I was getting pretty worn out... we did the caches but the brain didn't say, "Hey! Take a picture!" I didn't even notice until the day after I got home and saw the lack of pictures... sigh....

But... onward... next morning had Bob ready and excited for this is one of the caches he had been wanting to see all trip. A virtual called "Military History Series - Little Bighorn Nat. Mon." We arrived 15 minutes before the grounds opened. When they did Bob's Federal Pass got us though the gates with no fees! Yeah! We got to see Custer's hill (and where all his men and him fell) along with some excellent info boards. A new indian exhibit was built a few years ago and is stunning! We left after about an hour and got a webcam and a virtual before driving to Colorado Springs for the night (don't ask me about Denver traffic!) After checking in the hotel we got some dinner and ran across the city to get some challenges. Woe it was not to be...we got six before lightning strikes and rain made us quit. The next day was a big one, drive to the top of Pikes Peak for an Earthcache. The next morning Bob looks at the weather and announces that we need to head home. Forcast: Snow (almost blizzard) on Pikes Peak and thunderstorms all day in the Springs area... no arguement from me! Plus we'll finally have time to stop at the Capulin volcano that has cursed us in the last three trips by being closed by the time we get there. Here are some hightlights:
