Sun and Mon - Aug 18 & 19

Wow... a bit sore from the hike the previous day but we're up early and heading to the same spot as Saturday but this time for the annual APE Mega Event. We got there really early and they wouldn't let anyone (vendors included) do anything until 10 a.m. straight up. So I got some munzies in the area, walked back to the tunnel to stretch my legs out and waste time. Finally the logbook came out of the woods... litterly... an APE with a big blank slate is the "Official" log! So we signed, got some coins and since we did the APE cache yesterday, we got out of dodge! We got some counties and earthcaches along the way. Took the rest of the day... Washington is a wide state! Spent the night near Lake Coeur d'Alene... petty area but full of rich people. Next morning Montana and lots of earthcaches. ALong the way we went by to the Virtual "Sky King's Final Landing Place" a location that Bob wanted to see as this was his favorite TV show as a kid! We were met by the lady in charge of the cemetary and she told us how she had met Sky King himself as a kid but didn't think much about it until her dad threw a fit saying he was famous! <grin> We spent the night near the bottom of Montana. Here are some hightlights:

The Earthcache "Lake Coeur d'Alene" The statue is under renovation so we took a picture with it anyway I think it looks good in my hat, don't you? Earthcache: Avalanche in Willow Creek Gulch. Big train wreck in late 1800's as an avalanche took out the bridge and the train didn't know about it
