Wichita Mountains Practical Test - page 3

                                                                                       

Our final class was a practical...we went to the Wichita Mountains to actually crawl though tight crawls, wet rooms, and dark places to see if students had any hidden fears they may have not known about. Parents and family members were also welcomed along as Mr. D believes more should know about this part of the refuge.

Then out for about 20 steps to the trail and back to the rock rooms. See up there... that's the Apple and the Pear Two 30 and 40 foot high rocks on the west side of Elk Mountain just sitting on the edge....

Dang... it's hot out here...let's get back into the rock rooms!! Much cooler in there!

Have to get the eyes adjusted again! Hanging out in Jessy James campsite (how many of those have you heard?) :) End of the rock rooms... we made it!!

OK...now everyone play dead! Then the hike ALL the way back to the bus.... it's hot, uphill, and did we say hot??? We take rest stops in the few shady places we find.

A critter we saw on the rocks.... one that LuJo campers are used to... a scorpion. Good job gang!! You made it... see you Monday for our four day trip!!!
