| Before getting to the grand terrace you go by the corridor of states. | Well... finally see it in person! | The visitor center has lots of films to view about the making of the mountain etc... worth watching... |

| There is a path down to where the drillers, sculpters, etc... stayed while working...but it was closed in the off season. | One of the air compressors used to chip the rock from the mountain... | But there is a 1/2 mile path/trail that winds around to the base of the mountain.... |

| Then we headed toward the area nearby called the Needles | If you have a big RV... you AREN'T going to make it on this very winding and clostrophobic road!! :) | The Needles are upthrusts of rock almost at a straight 90 degree angle... |
