Day 3 - PM - Galveston Island State Park

12/27/25 - From NASA it was a 45 minute drive to Galveston and another 25 to the State Park. The state park is divided into two parts - beach side and wetlands side seperated by the highway. The wetlands side has lots of trails (and lots of signs about Aligators - Yikes!). The beach side camping was packed while the wetland area was barely any campers (probably because they were eaten by aligators!) Would not mind staying on the beach side. Very Large area and well kept. Really enjoyed being in the Gulf again!! (even if it was cold!)

So since I have a year pass to the state parks, it is time to visit as many as I can. I have a state park map where you scratch off each place visited and I have a State Park Passport to encourage me to visit all I can. Free Admission!! :) On the wetlands side - Observation tower... since everything here is basically flat and at sea level, you can see quite a distance

Wetlands - reminded me of working at Oklahoma Hackberry Flat Wetlands! Lots of references to this bird around here. Now I know why. View from the tower - there were those tourist bionaculars here to look onto the bay way out there!
