Karin Del Vecchio - Passing

Karin Delia Del Vecchio

June 15, 1932 - July 6, 2025

Mom was fine on her birthday weeks ago. (See previous webpage) We went out to dinner and celebrated her 93rd birthday and spent time together. She was an independent living, self driving, still shopping on her own person even at that age. Then a week after the dinner my sister (Dawn) went in to see her and found her on the floor next to her bed. She was in her PJ's and it seemed she was going to get in bed the night before and slipped and landed on the floor and couldn't get up to call for help. And where was the Life Alert necklace? In the kitchen getting charged. <grin> Figures. So Dawn called 911 and we had her taken to the emergency here in Weatherford, TX. I joined her later that day after work at Weatherford Whiskers. She had developed another UTI. So they checked her in for overnight to observe and fight the UTI.

The UTI got stronger and then was in her whole body (she developed Sepsis from it) and from then on she went from a healthy elderly lady to a very sick one. She had had these before and sometimes severe but we weren't totally ready for the "jump off of the cliff decline" that this lead to. Within days she was almost non-responsive. In a week they were talking hospice. We ended up getting her in a hospice facility where she passed after a week and a half from the time of the emergency visit. We had services in Lawton, OK and she is entombed alongside her husband Ray at the local cemetery mosoelium.
