Annual Texas Challenge XX

Thursday through Saturday - May 17 - 19, 2022

Time for our annual visit to the Texas Geocaching Challenge. You might say it is the Texas Geocaching Convention. (grin) We left on St. Patrick's Day (Thurs) and came back three days later. We got a ton of Earth Caches, Large Caches, and Adventure Caches (over 100 overall!) Way more than either of us thought!

Well, at least I wore green on this St. Paddy's day! :) There were a lot of large geocaches in the national forest that is down near Houston. Last time it was 100% humidity and 101 degrees... pretty but miserable! This time it was 70 and perfect!

One of the cooler (large size) caches we found out in the woods. The top was full of trackables and the bottom answered the age old question. :)

Another one of those Large caches. Poor geocacher didn't make it. Uncle Bob (grampa bob 14) signing the log that was in the dead mans hand. Another large at a marina.

Key was hidden behind the cache This was a large cache at a Trailer/RV Park that had over 1,000 parked residences... over 1,000 lots! A GIANT RV park! ddvdude (me) pointing out the gypsum in one of our many Earthcaches we worked on.

The next morning bright and early (and cold) we started on our first of over 70 adventure caches! Nobody was downtown this early! This was a very cool cache. This is a BBQ smoker! The place where the bullets go was the cooker, the handle the wood burner, and the smokestack the end of the gun You would think with all of his military training that grampa bob would know not to look down the barrel of a gun!

There is proof that ddvdude was there! ... and Grampa Bob 14 too! The next morning we went to another set of woods. The steam was coming off of this pond this very cool morning.

We had to take a picture of us at GZ of an Earthcache. So we both had to pose for a picture. Mailbox in the middle of the woods with a log book inside.

Hidden among the trees... you have to look to find it!
