Well, in late March I was getting the itch to try gardening again. So I got permission from management to grow flowers on a plot near the pool that had nothing in it. | I was particulary excited as I found Amazonian Elephant Ears (10 ft tall) on sale. | Unfortuantly, they went in too early and rotted with the late spring rains... sigh... |

The monkey grass already there but the rest was bare soil. So I planted caladiums (baby elephant ears) and a lot of hot summer flowers knowing our summers! | It was really slow getting started... nothing for April and May and then in June a few came up. I added Zinnias to the garden along with vincas. | But then the summer flowers started coming out in the heat |

And my neighbor's bird feeder added some strays to the mix.... | Not too bad considering the only thing on this area was the monkey grass. | the Coneflowers (Black eye susan) and Indian Blanket are going to town. |

And the cladiums have not slowed down either! | Of course, now in September, it is slowing back down. Just about filled the whole area. | We even have an Italian Basil growing... not cutting that back for sure! :) |

And from the squirrel feeder, we have corn (the stuff that looks like Johnson Grass). | And from the same feeder, stray sunflowers growing. | |
