Friday Evening - Families gather for our evening part of Wing Ding. We tell them about what we will see when the bats exit the cave at the entrance below. Not all of the participants could keep their eyes open no matter how interesting the presentation!

Mike then took a live myotis bat around for people to look at. We then went down to the entrance and waited for over 40 minutes for the bats to come out. Everyone was pretty patient though.

At the start of the flight when the bats were few in number, Mel shows their echolocation calls on her detection device. Next Day - Saturday - we have two Big Brown Bats under the picnic pavillion where we are holding the bat detective game. With all of the commotion they actually stayed all day and allowed everyone participating to see them up close

Again the presentation like last night except we added some to take a bit longer as not to be at the cave entrance waiting. Everyone had a part in this show Duane brought his museum stuffed bats (real dead stuffed bats) and we divided into small teaching groups

We showed only bats that are native to the area People were enthralled with seeing (and touching) a bat up close. And then it was time to go see the bats come out! (and within 5 minutes they were! Good timing!)
