GeoWoodstock - May 25, 2019

Memorial Day Weekend - Ft. Worth sponsored a national Geocaching event called GeoWoodstock. This is an annual event held at different locations thoughout the country (and next year in Canada!)

I volunteered to work at Registration the day before so that Grampa Bob 14 (Uncle Bob) and I could have the actual day to see the event. We met people from just about every state and many countries (Japan, Norway, England, Australia, etc...)

Also in town as a duo event was the GPS Adventures Maze (which I also volunteered and helped out with). This was only the third time it was in the USA spending most of its time in Europe.

The planning committee wanted it to look like MASH TV show. The "Official" Log for the event! The line was about 10 minutes long just to sign the state!

Elaine (TX Strawberry Creek) did a standing room only presentation of the use of GSAK. My second time to attend the class and I still don't understand it. It's a database that can manipulate all kinds of geo data. The day before we were to work the signups and sort, Grampa Bob 14 (my uncle), catspaw (Tim) and I went out to get the 40 lab caches around Ft. Worth

Another did some neat Neon art in the city. One just took you to famous places (the stockyards, Panther Island, etc) And one was just the GPS Maze with 7 answers in the maze itself

I worked the Geo-Plinko board which was broght down from COG in Oklahoma (Central Oklahoma Geocachers)(OKC) Very neat maze which you roll a golf ball around to the center which then falls in a hole and opens the cache door below. Then the Barney Smith Toilet Seat exibit! Over 1,400 seats were in his house and he became a geocacher 'must do' before he retired.

I understand the entire collection was bought by some geocacher in Dallas and will open it up to the public this fall.
