Virtual Cache Trip - Geocaching

Uncle Bob (Grampa Bob 14) and I (ddvdude) went on another of our multi-day geocaching trips. This time we were only hunting virtual caches. This one went from Ft. Worth to Amarillo to New Mexico to Lubbock to Midland Odessa and back. Whew... lots of driving in two days!!

The Quannah rocket used by the US Army. All of the pictures here are virtual cache locations. Many caches take you to graveyards and you have to usually answer a question to get credit for the cache. For instance this one... you get the coordinates where it is but can't answer unless you go there. The question was how did Joel Earl die?

We went to Turkey, TX... birthplace of Bob Wills Little tiny town but full of monuments to him. Giant world marble in Amarillo. To get the cache you have to have a picture of yourself with it.

In each of the four ends each is a time capsule. One is to be opened in 25 years from 1968, one 50 years after that, the next 100 years, and the last 1,000 years from the date. One location was an abondoned factory. Nothing really special here...just take a picture... but I really liked the sign near the gate. <grin>

Ok... read the sign... it's pretty ironic when you see the next group of pictures. There is a field near Amarillo, TX that is called the Cadillac Ranch. It is a bunch of Cadillac cars buried in the dirt and people from all around come and are allowed to paint them.

Spray paint cans litter the ground. There is a garbage can about 100 yards away but it seems people are too lazy to throw them away. Up in there was the physical cache! Took some searching! Another wierd piece of art on the other side of Amarillo!
