We saw more tricolors this year than we have in a great many years... don't know what's up with that. Temp remained constant in the cave. | However the humidity was really high in the rooms where the they were heavy (about 85%)

A lot of them had the dew droplets forming on them which with headlamps makes they seem like they have round gold plating on them. | Tricolors are one of the bats that this happens quite often. It is just water on their fur. It doesn't hurt them. | What is strange is one can be full of dew and another a foot away is clean as can be... hummm.... |

A couple of pictures here of a bat caught in flight. Near the end of the count one particular mat of bats all awoke and started flying everywhere.

It's no problem to us but we don't like it for the bats as they only have enough fat to sleep the winter away... we don't want them to waste it away. So we got out of that area. | Low and slow... the camera picks up bats in flight where our eyes don't see they until they buzz right by you.

Looks like these two tricolors are about to do a back to back 10 paces then turn and shoot duel! | The little waterfall was running this year... end of the line for us bat counters. | Then we belly crawled out of Stovepipe entrance and back to the cars looking forward to a calazone at Luigi's in Blair, OK. |
