ODWC Wildlife Expo - Sept. 30th

Every year I also volunteer with the Oklahoma Dept. of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) to help educate the public about bats at their Wildlife Expo held in Sept. of each year near Guthre, OK. I work in the Alabaster Caverns booth with park manager Mike Caywood. We wear our Bat Expert's shirts (very professional) and show off bat houses, bat trivia, bat facts, influence of bats on culture and products, and of course do a little advertisment for the caverns too! <grin>

The Oklahoma Wildlife Expo is on the Lazy E Arena near Guthrie, OK. Over 120 hands on activities allow the public to get lots of hands on... The Alabaster Caverns (double wide) booth featuring (what else?) BATS!!! Information displays as well as photo ops for people to take pictures of their kids with bat bodies (hopefully come vist the caverns later!)

We even have a live bat for people to see... most of the time he obliges and stays in the close corner near the door. I spend the two days holding a real (dead & stuffed) Hoary Bat for people to feel the fur and get them to come into the booth The show lasts from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m... then to Dave & Busters for some arcade and a really good steak dinner!!
