The Narrows. Heartrock, and 2 mines

April 28, 2013 - Another beautiful day and the gang from work decide they are going to join Dave and me for our Whichita Mountains Virtual Geocache hunt. Today we do Boulder Mountain (which is really Eagle Mountain)(which we gave up on a few weeks ago but found a path up the north side using maps), then go see Heartrock (which is an Earthcache) and then a mine (cache called Mine games) on the south face of Lincoln Mountain, then over the pass between Lincoln and Elk and finally to Bonanza Mine on the south side of Elk Mt. We then would take the Treasure Lake trail to the Treasure lake parking lot and hitch a ride back to our cars parked at Dog Run Hallow parking lot.

Started at 8 a.m. and ended exhausted at 5 p.m.

You can see all of the pilings (rock debris) from a good distance before getting here... and they are slippery to walk on! There was some kind of big machine here to pull out the ore... just the steel in the rocks is all that remains.
