We worked all year with D's Pic's 'n' Pops to earn money to buy model rockets and have a day at Elmer Thomas Park here in Lawton. Mr. D brought his collection and each student was able to build their own rocket. We learned the safety rules and how they work and then shot them off at the park... one low engine (about 100 feet) and if you wanted a much bigger engine that might make you lose it as it would go over 1,000 feet high. Then we would have lunch, play in the park and take a hike around the lake before heading back to school to go home.
